The First Chinese-Korean Joint Workshop on Recent Advances in
Numerical Analysis and Its Applications
Department of Mathematics, Seoul National University, Seoul
February 19-23, 2001

Workshop Objectives

The method of computation and simulation has been an essential tool to develop various areas from science, engineering, medicine, finance to industry. Rigorous numerical analysis of computational methods guarantees not only efficiency and reliability but also motivations for new innovative methods. The objective of this workshop is to provide a forum for discussions and exchanges of ideas about recent advances in numerical analysis and its applications among leading numerical analysts from China and Korea. This will also accelerate interactions between Chinese and Korean computational scientists as both countries locate closest in contact geography and culture and are increasingly interested in economical exchanges. The workshop will lead to probably the most effective international collaborations by numerical analysts of either country in the future.
